Manager position-PART II

I have read some wise words posted to my possible responses to the job offer.

This is what happened:

Everyone, including my interviewer our director, all dressed up in suits, ties, or skirts for the interviews, EXCEPT ME. My attitude was "Who cares!! if you are gonna pick me, you wouldn't care how I dress. 4 days a week of business attire are enough." All my colleagues were surprised and called me "crazy but daring".

When I got my job offer, my director asked me "if we are unable to increase your salary, would you be still interested in the job?"
Hell no!!! I am not a free labor. No job is worth of taking without proper compensation, except for charity/ nonprofit. Have you heard people got promoted without increased salary?? Never!!

After they talked to Aexxa (my company), they finally increased my salary offer by that worthless pennies. My director said this to me " this is the best they can do because they think you are currently already making too much/ much more than others." I smirked. "You are my first choice, and I really need to know your answer now." he said it with a serious face. Then I pretend I was serious too and told him "I just can't accept your offer with that salary." That is an insult to myself and my past managerial experience.

Funny thing is that he started to complain to me about his salary and this company!!! He even told me how much more he makes than me with 60 people under him.

Did I make the right decision?

Manager Position- PART I

Friday is our only dress causal day in a week. I love to come to work with my jeans and sneaker.

Last Friday was also my interview day for the manager position.
Do you think I need to show up with bussiness attire?

After a lengthy and intensive interview, the position was offered to me on Monday morning.
Do you think I was happy?

On Tuesday, I was offered with the position with an increased salary.
Do you think I accepted the offer?

A romantic Hawaii experience

Have you heard that it's not the place you go, but the people you are with, set you up with your emotion or feelings about your environment. Hawaii is a romantic place to be for honeymooners. More so if you can have the scuba diving experience I had.

At first, I was having this doom feeling of death when I tried to practice breathing by the boat in a gigantic ocean. As I was trying to get to used to breath via my mouth, a beautiful pair of eyes came into my vision and asking me if I am okay by hand gesture.

I was enchanted and struck by such gorgeous light green with blue tinted eyes with the eyelashes every girls dream to have. I started to scuba dive without knowing how. He gently readjusted my mask and breathing tubing in about 3 feet under water. He then put my hand in his arm, and we started to explore the beautiful sea life.

I felt like I was born and feeling so comfortable in water for the first time in life. He constantly inquiring about my comfort zone to see if I am okay and go down deeper. I had seen lots of beautiful fishes, played with an octopus, and touched the bottom of the ocean. I think we both lost the tack of time until another instructor came down and signaled us to go up.

When I saw him again on the boat, his body didn't disappoint me. He looks like a perfect PERFECT beach / ocean boy walking out of comic books. Tall, slim with perfect muscular build, perfect bronze skin color, and perfect medium-length wet hair. SO SO SO GORGEOUS!!!!

I brought back a little rock from the bottom of the ocean, but left the gem of the ocean in Hawaii.

cubical neighbor

God help me!!
I really hate my cubical neighbor. She just talks toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
much and LOUND to the point I really hate her! From the moment she gets in, she calls all her family and friends. Once she is done with them, she starts with her neighbors. I extremely don't like when she talks to me OVER the cubicles. We are at work, not supermarket. She really doesn't need to express her emotion or feelings out lound. No one is interested it!!! Besides, she is old enough to realize it and young enough not to have any senile behavior. Just can't stand her!!! How can anyone talks this much EVERY SINGLE DAYS???????

Office Politics

Last night I was invited by my colleagues join them for drinks after work to celebrate a couple's recent marriage. Both of them are our chief medical directors. I declined it for some personal reason.

Today my colleague told me that it was really bad since there were only 4 people showed up. I told her that people all have life after work, it's understandable that not many people can make it last night.

In reply, she said "office politics is very important since you never know when you will need their help, especially they are in the higher position". "We all should make time for it."

Honestly, I don't believe it's ALL THAT important if you do your work with competency and professional courtesy.

Manhattan isn't for me!!

Just took a walk, again, on Manhattan streets after my lunch.
It was a great walk. However, there are too many people smoking in Manhattan.
Every morning I got out of the subway statin in Manhattan, I smell smoke.
Lunch time, even more people smoking outside their work buildings. At Madison Sqare Park, it's precious to find a seat without people smoking next to you for just 5 minutes.
After work, I am dying for clean air. I still smell heavy smoke in this 2 blocks walk.

I don't know how people can live in Manhattan with all the cigarette smoke only for its convenience. Just not for me!! And it's not fair to people who don't smoke.

Joanne's Concert

Out of our busy and crazy schedule as we plan our wedding, we took time out to attend Joanne's piano concert at Carnegie Hall on Saturday. I was impressed how well she played 梁祝 with the western instrument. Knowing her as a kind and friendly person, we tend to forget how talented she is. I have to say that I am proud to have a friend like her.

Bored @ work

It's the last day of the week. I am so bored at work, yet I still need to work.

I am so bored. I tried to talk with my colleaques. They are all so busy to meet our target production, and I feel bad to disturb them.

I am so bored, and I tried to listen to music. I still feel bored.

First Ski Experience

Mini-DV and I just came back from Hunter Mountain ski trip. Went up in a group of 7. We took a beginner ski lesson and bought the try-pak. It was a good fall experience.

When I realized that I was the only one kept the whole class waiting. I decided to pass our second round up to the bunny slope. When I told the ski coach that, without any doubts, he immediately said to me "thank you for coming". Now you all know how bad I was. And I did try to keep up my good sports spirit. However, I regretted that we need to return for 2 more times to get our money worth. Unfortunately, it's non-transferable.

At the end of the day, one of our friends only taught me one little skill that finally made my day. I slowly learned not to fall and stop.

There are two lines to describe my first ski experience: "I am falling, and I can't get up". " A good student requires a good teacher".

Now, I start my year 2006 with bruises and whole lot of body ache, and Mini-DV with a damaged cornea in his left eye.
